Welcome to my website that makes available for purchase beautifully reproduced limited series prints of artworks, all pertaining to a multimedia project and concept known as The Routes of Civilization (Underground Cathedral), that has been developed over several decades. The overriding theme is an artistic, sociological and anthropological exploration of underground transportation systems throughout the world. It began with the creation of an enormous stained glass artwork that is seen above, which is based on a map of the Paris Metro. It may be the largest free-standing stained glass artwork in existence. Extensive detailed information and other images of this artwork can be located by clicking on the image above.
Yet, the inspiration behind and theme of this massive undertaking, which was three years in execution, later evolved into other media, including photography, video making, sound recording, musical compositions, digital art (available exclusively here) and mixing all of these elements into various means of artistic exploration and presentation.
The digital artworks seen on this site have undergone a transformative process over a period of over 35 years, beginning with the creative exploration of the first architectural computer assist design (CAD) system on the commercial market during the mid to late 1980s, that was not intended for aesthetic purposes. Those artworks further evolved in various dramatic ways with the constant evolution of hi-tech creative tools. Any shortcuts that may benefit from computerized programming are integrated into laborious, intricately detailed work requiring an attention to detail and precision that makes me sometimes imagine what it would be like to do dental or surgical work. Likewise, creating a stained glass artwork required a similar precision of execution.
